Terracotta round casserole dish [Cazuela Redonda] (from 25 to 45 cm)

The cazuelas of Pereruela are unique due to the composition of clays found in the area and made from two different types of clay. They are composed of a heavy, slow-drying red clay which gives the pieces its strength, and a white clay containing quartz, feldspar, and mica that can be seen with the naked eye and gives the pieces its refractive properties.

These casserole are handmade by professional artist in the use of "barro", molding piece by piece. The uniqueness of these cazuelas are found in the raw materials from Pereruela, Spain, using two different types of 'barro" to then be slowly dry and put inside the oven. To finish, the professionals enamel the inside and half of the outside. They can be placed on direct fire, electric stove or any type of oven.

Recommendation exclusively for the first use (to cook): immerse it in water for 24 hours, let it dry and start using it over low eat to increase slowly.
